2008 Accomplishments

With funds received from Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and individuals. Funding request was submitted to Virginia DEQ. Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy was the primary stream monitoring group.  Sampling for bacteria continued in the Catoctin Watershed Project with over 250 samples analyzed bringing the total to over 800. 

 

2008 Loudoun Watershed Stakeholders Steering Committee

Participating groups from LWW attended month meetings of the Loudoun Watershed Stakeholders Steering Committee (LWMSSC).  

 

Catoctin Watershed Project

In support of stream water quality, the CWP project continued in western Loudoun between Purcellville, Lovettsville and Waterford area.  The project activities include stream monitoring for fecal coliform. 

Tree Planting at Evans Pond

In April 2008, more than 200 tress were planted as organized through the Lucketts Elementary Potomac River Rangers, with expert help from representatives of the Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District, the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, and the Loudoun County Master Gardeners.  This was followed by a stream monitoring demonstration.

Lucketts River Ranger Fair

On November 6, members of Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy demonstrated benthic macroinvertibrates at the Lucketts Elementary School.
