2012 Accomplishments

Stream Monitoring

Volunteers with Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy completed sixteen benthic monitoring and one annual habitat assessments events

 

Newton Marasco Foundation Stream Monitoring

On March 25, 2012, Loudoun Watershed Watch provided support to stream monitoring at Purcellville Nature Park
 

Nominations of Stream Monitoring to VA DEQ

In response to the five sites nominated by LWW, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will establish two new stations, one on Tuscorara Creek of Town Branch and one on Elklick Branch in fall of (2012).  
 

Earthday at Loudoun - Fourth Annual

On April 22, 2012 Participated Earthday
 

Scenic Catoctin Creek Celebration

On September 9, 2012 in Taylorstown the Catoctin Creek Scenic River Advisory Committee hosted "Celebrate the Creek"

Family Stream Day

LWW co-hosted the eleventh annual Family Stream Day.

Stream Monitoring - Student Training

On May 9, 2012, LWC provided student training at Loudoun Valley High School as organized by Newton Marasco Foundation

Stream Monitoring - Field Exercise

On June 3, 2012, LWC provided student training along South Fork Catoctin Crek with Loudoun Valley High School students as organized by Newton Marasco Foundation

Stream Monitoring - Certification Class

On November 18, 2012, LWC provided certification training and testing at student training Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve in the Education Annex building.

Watershed Map and Crossword Puzzle

Delivered 100 copies of the watershed poster and crossword puzzle to several Elementary Schools
