2011 Accomplishments

 

In Our Backyards; A Celebration of Loudoun's Historic and Environmental Heritage

On January 31, Loudoun Watershed Watch and several other LWW partners exhibited at Loudoun Water. This event was organized by the Loudoun County Preservation and Conservation Coalition.
 

Nominations of Stream Monitoring to VA DEQ

In response to the five sites nominated by LWW, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will establish two new stations, one on Tuscorara Creek of Town Branch and one on Elklick Branch in fall of (2012).

TMDL Public Meeting - Sugarland Run and others

On April 13, 2011 Participated in public meeting about excessive bacteria levels in Sugarland Run

 

 

Earthday at Loudoun - Third Annual

On April 10, 2011 Participated Earthday

 

 

Tree Planting - Lovettsville

On April 30, 2011 participated in tree planting at Lovettsville Park

 

 

LWC Stream Monitoring Training

Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy hosted a stream monitoring training event on Sunday, May 1, at the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve Education Annex

 

 

Save Our Streams - Certified stream monitor

Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy hosted a stream monitoring training event on June 26, at the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve Education Annex

 

 

Catoctin Creek Day

On August 13 in Taylorstown the Catoctin Creek Scenic River Advisory Committee hosted "Celebrate the Creek"

 

Family Stream Day

LWW co-hosted the tenth annual Family Stream Day

 

Lucketts Elementary Potomac River Rangers River Fair

On November 2 at Lucketts Elementary School

 

Watershed Map and Crossword Puzzle

Delivered 150 copies of the watershed poster and crossword puzzle to Several Elementary Schools
